Raising Sponsorship

We hope you will forgive us for repeating that the main purpose of this event is to raise as much money as possible for Leukaemia Research, so that more and more lives are saved. We rely on the money you raise for our vital research.
Encourage all tax paying sponsors to tick the column confirming that they wish to “Gift Aid” their donation. This will raise further money for Leukaemia Research.

It's more fun taking part in a group
Why not build a team with family, friends or colleagues

All money raised by the Southend Bikeathon will help to make a difference to the lives of those affected by leukaemia, lymphoma and other blood cancers. One of the greatest achievements in our research is how we have transformed the outlook for children diagnosed with the most common form of leukaemia. When Leukaemia Research was founded fifty years ago, as little as 1% of children diagnosed with a blood cancer survived. Now, thanks to the money invested in research grants, that figure has risen to about 80%.

This is a significant improvement but we won't rest until that figure reaches 100%! Leukaemia Research are committed to investing £140 million over the next five years and receive no funding from the government. All the money comes from fundraising events like the Southend Bikeathon and supporters like you.

Top individual and team fundraisers are presented with trophies at an Awards Presentation Evening.

Some reasons to support the Leukaemia Research Fund

Leukaemia Research (LRF) is the only national UK charity devoted exclusively to improving treatments, finding cures and investigating the causes and prevention of cancers of the blood (leukaemia, Hodgkin's disease and other lymphomas, myeloma, myelodysplasia & aplastic anaemia).

Leukaemias and lymphomas are the most common cancers in young men and women. 24,500 people each year - 600 of which are children - are diagnosed with one of these terrible diseases, and each person needs the skilled research that your sponsorship money will fund
